About Bill Habergham

Bill Habergham was born in Morley, West Yorkshire: the location of the real Daisy Hill, where his late father grew up between wars and which has provided much of the inspiration for “Skylarks Over Daisy Hill”.

As an historian he has always been fascinated by memory of war and the social and psychological impact it has, both on those who fight and on those who come afterwards and enjoy the peace and the memory of those who made the sacrifice of youth and life.

Bill had four uncles fight in the second world war. Only two came back.
